GIG REVIEW | ALESSI ROSE @ KING TUT’s

Glasgow’s iconic King Tut’s hosted a sensational sold-out show for Alessi Rose on her ‘Rumination As Ritual’ headline tour on Sunday 22 September.

The London-based rising pop princess gracefully entered the stage wearing a pink and white lace outfit before beginning her set with ‘The Pit’ from her debut EP ‘Rumination As Ritual’. Rose was met with a youthful crowd with high energy, following a supporting set from Eve Christina.

Opening up the night with soft, captivating vocals, supporting artist Eve Christina left the Tut’s stage after an enchanting set that had the crowd engaged from start to finish.

Having just released her debut EP ‘Call Me Baby’ in July this year, the Cambridge singer played several tracks from the EP including Family Business and Forever. Eve performed her set solo with just her acoustic guitar, along with raw vocals with vulnerable lyrics and storytelling. In her track Forever, Eve toys over the uncomfortable feelings that come with growing up, whilst also knowing that getting older is inevitable.

Eve’s set also included an unreleased song called ‘On The Brain’, which had delicate strings of acoustic guitar and tender vocals. You could tell from the crowd that Eve was already building a small fanbase of her own, with a few in the crowd singing to the lyrics (that weren’t even released yet!). Eve Christina was a great choice of supporting act for this tour, and it’s well worth keeping an eye out for her in 2025.

Alessi Rose

Tonight was Alessi’s penultimate stop on her debut tour in support of her Rumination As Ritual EP, and she put on no less than a fantastic show for the Glasgow crowd.

Having previously supported American singer-songwriter Ella Jane in Glasgow last year, this makes it only her second time performing in the Scottish city. The night was wholesome, and filled with heartfelt lyrics and plenty of light-hearted chatty moments throughout the set.

The Derby-born singer has a unique alt-pop music style, often dipping between sub-genres of pop and taking musical influences from Gracie Abrams, Lorde, and Chappell Roan. The storytelling in her writing often discusses the realities of being in relationships, being comfortable in your identity, and growing older. Rose takes pride in her songwriting as much as she does in singing, having several unreleased original tracks already under her belt.

Her latest single ‘Oh My’ is already a fan favourite, with excited fans loudly singing the lyrics and holding up flashlights in the venue. The poignant lyricism perfectly illustrates the feeling of loving someone that turns into an unhealthy attachment, creating a sense of emotional unfulfillment and frustration. ‘Oh My’ is also the first taste of a new body of work on the horizon, with the alt-pop singer teasing an announcement soon to come.

Additional highlights of her set included popular EP tracks Break Me and Situationship, both of which had beautiful harmonies and melodic rhythm that was addictive to hear live. The connection that Alessi Rose has with her fans also did not go unnoticed. The final song on the setlist was her pop hit CRUSH! ending the night on a high. Each person in the crowd also got gifted a specially signed setlist, a unique gift for the Glasgow show.

Alessi Rose has been quickly expanding her fan base through intimate in-person hangout sessions in London, New York, and LA, as well as performing to new crowds over summer such as at Reading & Leeds, and supporting Noah Kahan to an audience of 40,000 people in Belfast. You can catch Rose at the Neighbourhood Weekender and Live At Leeds festivals this autumn.
