West Lothian Singer-Songwriter Megan Black has released her new single titled ”Poison In The Water” from her upcoming conceptual album ”Full Circle” slated for a Spring 2027 release. Megan blends 70’s blues rock with modern feminist pop, reminiscent to Chappell Roan. Over the last 18 months she has performed on renowned stages such as Tallinn Music Week and headlined Dundee Pride Festival, also featuring on BBC Scotland’s Art Mix Show with Len Pennie.

The track opens with a rich bassline with Megan critiquing the current state of the Government regarding the music industry, politics and culture. There is an exciting build-up to the chorus, showcasing some strong vocal ability from Megan. The song generally has an uplifting tone, with contrasting dark lyrics, which I enjoyed as it reminded me of artists such as Talking Heads. There is a moment in the bridge of the song where she layers her vocals in such a clever way, before the drums kick in and we are taken back in to the song.

Megan came up with the concept of her forthcoming album whilst learning to play bass guitar, and says the album is about navigating life in your twenties (which we all know has it’s ups and downs!) I find her song writing very encapsulating and think she would very much appeal to fans of Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac. This song would be amazing to hear live so I hope to see more exciting things from Megan very soon.
