Audrey Hobert burst onto the scene in 2025 after a number of writing collaborations with long-time friend Gracie Abrams. Her debut album ‘Who’s the Clown’ took crippling insecurities and fearless honesty and turned them into enjoyable, percussive pop hooks, making it one of the most interesting releases of last year.
With no support this evening, fans were warned to get down early, turning up in their droves to queue before doors. An hour and a half was ample time to get everyone in and ready for the show. Audrey arrived on stage in the most outlandish way: on stilts, in a disguise and a full length trench coat armed with a banjo. The set began with album opener I Like to Touch People and it was quickly realised that the audience would indeed be able to sing along with every single line.

Up next was Drive with Audrey bringing boundless energy to her performance, spinning across the length of the stage. Wet Hair provoked the first massive surge of excitement from the crowd before a large bale of hay was presented on the stage to add to the country vibes of Don’t go back to his ass.
Thirst Trap included an energetic dance break but it was Sue Me which provided one of the highlights of the night. Performed in full twice, once with some trampolining antics and a second time with no phones allowed. A very telling experiment in crowd reaction when devices are removed from the equation. Everyone was more present and the atmosphere was much more electric.

I may have spent longer travelling to the venue than I spent inside it, however, it was worth it to see such a star in the making. Audrey’s vocal strength and live band interpretations of the album surpassed all expectations. Watch this space, she is going to be huge.
Audrey returns to Scotland later this year supporting Lorde along with Zara Larsson and Alessi Rose at Royal Highland Showgrounds, Edinburgh on Tuesday 25th August as part of Summer Sessions. Tickets available here.
