SINGLE REVIEW | FROGSPAWN | TIGERDRIVE

Tigerdrive are a four-piece alt-emo band based in Aberdeen. Having formed in July 2025 and gigging since then, they are excitingly making their next move with the release of their debut single, ‘Frogspawn’. The track is set to come out on the 14th of February.

The song immediately grabs your attention as crashing cymbals and punchy drums kick in. On top of this, the distorted electric guitar and crunchy, textured bass play the same catchy riff.  Soon after the guitars are shredded, we hear an expressive female vocalist enter the mix.

As the track progresses, a low male backing vocal is introduced,  adding further depth to the song. Both vocalists share a passionate, loud vocal delivery with a shouting style of singing.

The track comes to a halt with feedback from the electric guitar, creating a loud, static, ringing sound. This leaves a strong and intense impact.

All of these elements work together wonderfully to pack the song with power. The alt-emo genre is clearly apparent due to its fierce, driving rhythm and grungy-toned instrumentation throughout.  The mix brilliantly supports the overdriven, raw, emotional feel of the track.
