As we approach summer and its light evenings, Full Fat has done us the courtesy of releasing a song that perfectly fits your summer playlist.
Mimosa Mondays is full of soul, skill and sultry lyrics: a win for the band and a win for listeners. The song opens with a punchy guitar, bass and drum combination, full of pizzazz and character.

The lyrics unravel a tale of longing, lust and some later regret of a one-night stand. The story captivates the listener with its relatability and humour, enhanced by the melodic voice of the vocalist.
Fraser, founder of Full Fat, explained: “Mimosa Mondays was inspired by one of my friends, who used to have lots of one night stands. She is now with a long term partner but she always used to tell me these rollercoaster stories about meeting someone, flirting with them, taking them home, then waking up the next morning with ‘the fear’. I wanted to convey this varied tale with all its soaring highs and crushing lows!”
The song was recorded in front of a live audience at The Pianodrome, where Full Fat was joined on stage by three talented acts; Megan Black, Groovedown, and the student band from local high school Leith Academy.

The authenticity of the sound, including the applause at the end, adds to the soulful feel of the song. The recording creates a connection with the listener, true to the title of the album the single belongs to: Live in Leith, due out on 24 May.
