Soon to become a mainstay in the Scottish indie scene, Edinburgh band Wrest return with yet another display in melodic mastery with ‘Blood’. Something with a bit more punch than their last offering ‘A Perfectly Spherical World’, the band continue to prove that they are really a jack of all trades as they use every tool in their arsenal at their most refined and impactful.

With a knack for calling for unity in their music, this track is no exception with a community feel to it overall. The catchy riff and the blissful harmonizing that kicks the track off, invites the listener into a peaceful experience with the warm and familiar vocals. It provides a basis and an enhances such a feeling. The crashing drums also help to provide a bombastic feel to the track as it provides space for the momentum of it to change at all of the right moments. With the ending of the track being a slowly fading of the instruments with the return of the pleasing harmonies, the band have again left us with a positive message to take away: we all bleed the same blood.

With the political and social injustice occurring in America and all over the world at the moment, it can be said that this is a very important track to remind listeners of a very simple message, yet one that constantly has to be reinforced. The band have added yet another impressive sonic experience for us to interpret and soak in as they continue their rise.
