Keno’s newest single ‘Running through my mind’ is out now. Keno so far has shown some very interesting versatility within the realm of pop music, ranging from acoustic pop (‘I Miss You’ feat. Max-Who?) to folk pop (‘Crazy to see’ feat. Matthew Gibb) and even electronic pop (‘The Way’ feat. Sally En remixed by himself) this has led to ‘Running through my mind’ which is indie pop and probably lies at the centre of his musical identity though that may just be how I see it.
It has a Declan MacKenna energy and an electric guitar riff that reminds me of the Wallows. It’s exciting to see that he chose to sing this one himself as he usually gets othera artists to sing his songs and his deep voice makes the track stand out in a characteristic way. The chorus melody is probably the most memorable he’s written so far even though all of his songs are catchy (I definitely also recommend listening to ‘Crazy to see’ which was released in May!). Since most of his songs are sang by other artists each vocalist ends up influencing the track in their own specific way which is very unique but I also like how personal a song feels when it’s sang by the person who wrote it.
Keno produces all of his songs and is also part of music duo ‘Brighthouse’ along with singer songwriter Sally En where they make calm foresty indie folk music, and they are releasing a new song on the 2nd of August which you can go pre-save now by following this link!
