SINGLE REVIEW | POMMES FRITES | LADY

All aboard the laid-back locomotive, grab yourself a seat and listen away to Pommes Frites newest single ‘Lady’ which was released 2nd August. Formerly known as ‘Alan Carberry and The Freakshow Nightmares’, this alt-rock foursome’s tune is their first single of the year and there is plenty more on the way soon should you fall in love with this one. You will. I just know it.

The song starts off with cool calming vocals from frontman Alan Carberry and a reverb feeling on the guitar that sounds like it could be recorded in a grand church hall. The crisp clean strings throughout the song forces you to hear every note going on. The voice in the song reminded me very much of Tommy O’Dell of DMA’S, very soothing.

The song is a good amount of slow-moving sounds until you arrive at your destination (revisiting my locomotive wordplay), the chorus. This picks up the pace and includes some backing vocals that will stick in your head all day (not a bad thing).

Closer to the end though is where your ears are really wanting to be as you then hear some heavenly guitar bends and a flurry of cymbals until you come to a euphoric end.
