SINGLE REVIEW | NEW TOWN | SPARK

It was only last week Scottish indie alternative outfit New Town took over the stage at Bobiks in Newcastle tying in nicely with the release of their brand new single ‘Spark’. The song is a driving and ethereal new alternative pop track driven by strong vocals and honest lyrics. On their new single the band contemplate growing up and moving on.

About ‘Spark’, the band says: “It’s about being in your early to mid 20’s and realising all your friends are moving on with life. Everyone’s getting proper jobs, getting married; doing grown up stuff and you can’t help but feel a little lost along the way.” Most of us have been in similar situations and have found ourselves on an island wanting to enjoy life instead of having to figure out what bill next to pay. New Town break the silence and show their listeners that they’re not alone, ‘Spark’ is a comforting, soaring and open-hearted indie rock track.

The emerging alternative East Kilbride-based band have already played a number of shows across the country and believe in playing songs their listeners can relate to, which is something they have nailed on the head with their latest release. It isn’t just on their recorded music they know how to connect with their fans, as their live show blew many others like them out of the water. New Town are clearly a promise for 2023 and I’m excited to see what the new year will bring them!
