Ayrshire based indie soft-rock band KB & The Raskals are back with their latest single ‘Doubt’ which unentangles the many challenges faced in young adulthood.
Only their second release, ‘Doubt’ delves deep into the themes of self-sabotage and identity, creating a lasting impression on the listener.
Released on 28th June, the track has you gripped from the start with electrifying reverb-drenched guitars, and entrancing vocals by lead singer Katelyn Baxter. Its emotional lyricism illustrates the raw vulnerability of self-doubt, with phrases like “hate myself”, “doubt myself”, and “I’ll change myself” that echo turning to self-sabotage as a coping mechanism when working through the encroaching unknown of early adulthood.
Yet, behind its honest discussions of uncertainty and lack of hope in finding oneself, ‘Doubt’ conveys a reassuring layer of optimism. The message that can be drawn from this track is to utilise self-doubt as an anchor to overcome the life barriers post-adolescence – advocating not to give in to familiar self-defeating habits.
Overall, this is a fantastic release with notably authentic emotional depth. The Scottish indie-rock band would resonate best with fans of Joy Division, Siouxsie And The Banshees, and New Order. ‘Doubt’ is a captivating addition to their discography, providing strength and solace to anyone facing uncertainties in life.
