Ahead of playing their first Edinburgh headline gig at Sneaky Pete’s on November 9, the Leith punk three-piece Felix and the Sunsets’ latest release I Don’t Wanna Be Adored Anymore delves into a darker, heavier and grungier realm than we’ve seen before.

A sharp and fast guitar riff introduces the track, with dark and brooding drums coming in to create a frenzied  atmosphere. Lead vocalist Felix Christie’s distinctive snarling voice spitting out The time is now / I burn for days builds up steadily to the chorus, making the listener eager for what’s to come. This is where the punk-rock energy really explodes, with a heavy thumping baseline hammering against two choruses of I Don’t Wanna Be Adored Anymore frantically weaving in and out of each other.

The simplicity of the lyrics allow the instrumentals to really take the lead for the rest of the tune. Continually alternating between head-banging beats, slightly lighter tones and squealing guitar solos, it’s never a dull moment and will sound absolutely amazing live. You can catch Felix and the Sunsets at Sneaky Pete’s on November 9 and tickets are available from this link– get one before they sell out!
