Taking us back in time, Aldo’s debut single ‘The Sickboy Method’ is like a classic 80s banger, with that nostalgic synth sound, and feel-good guitar line it sounds like a soundtrack to a coming-of-age movie where the protagonist has finally had that long-awaited moment of realisation and clarity.
Although this song emits a feel-good vibe, Aldo’s lyrics challenge this as he is an open book to us admitting that he needs to detox from a person he can no longer be around and needs to put himself in isolation to get over it. Quite fitting considering that the song itself is inspired by the character of Renton from Trainspotting who cuts himself of from the outside world to get over his own habit.
Written by Aldo, and produced by Chris Marshall and Johnny Madden, the production work expertly compliments the instrumentation and helps in achieving Aldo’s goal of that 80’s melancholic, high school movie pain creating a song that is perfect for your next road trip. Aldo expertly combines the 80s sound with an edgy indie/alternative twist to create his own musical identity.
