GIG REVIEW | THE CLONE ROSES 25TH ANNIVERSARY @ THE BARROWLANDS

If you miss 80’s and 90’s britpop music then the Barrowlands on the 22nd of April was your place to be! The Clone Roses celebrated their 25th Anniversary at Glasgow’s well known Barrowlands Ballroom with an outstanding line up of tribute acts.

To start the night off first on stage was The Smiths LTD, not only did they sound the same but lead singer of the tribute looked identical to the man himself ‘Morrissey’. When on stage they sang some of The Smiths well known and well loved songs such as ‘Charming Man’ and ‘There Is a Light That Never Goes Out’.

Following The Smiths incredible set, up next was The James Experience not only was their performance amazing but there was an extra surprise no one expected at all! The group’s lead singer proposed to his partner, Congratulations! The crowd didn’t seem to know many songs apart from their well known hits of ‘Sit Down’ and ‘Laid’ but the tribute did an amazing job engaging with the fans.

After that eventful set next to being welcomed on stage was ‘The Gerry Cinnamon Experience’, even though the artist himself is not from the britpop era this set was incredible. The tribute never failed to get the crowd jumping and singing.

After the Scottish tribute next was ‘Oas-is’ when on stage the band gave the crowd exactly what they wanted, during the full set the crowd sang every lyric to every song the band shared commonalities with The Smiths tribute from sounding the same and the members being identical to the Gallagher brothers.

At last ‘The Clone Roses’ came out on stage to Celebrate and the crowd were more than ready, the band played some of The Stone Roses most iconic and biggest hits from ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ ‘Love Spread’ and ‘Sally Cinnamon’. The crowd wanted more and more and they gave them it!

The Clone Roses are playing a huge Concert at ‘Heaton Park’ on the 13th of May with a long list of incredible tribute acts. Definitely recommend the tributes to anyone who is a fan of the real acts, after viewing all tribute performances I would 100% go see all acts again!
