The King Tut’s New Year’s Revolution hosted another jam-packed night for headliner Tanzana on Friday 9th January. The fantastic line-up included supporting artists Save Face, Aldous, and Naked Actress, before the highly anticipated Glasgow five-piece Tanzana hit the stage at 10 pm.
Save Face
Kicking off the night at 7.45 pm was Save Face, an alternative rock band with strong drums and catchy melodies. Instrumentals included gripping percussion and eclectic guitars, as well as their most-streamed single ‘Gods House’, offering fun and upbeat lyrics as well as engagement from the crowd singing along. They have just released their brand-new debut EP ‘All The Gold In The World’ on 11th January – it’s well worth a listen!

Aldous
This Edinburgh-based four piece played a catchy indie-rock set at 8.30 pm, proving their strong stage presence and diversity through their varied setlist and performance. Their softer indie tracks provided the perfect ambience for late night car rides and candle-lit dinners, with ‘Songs I Fall Asleep To’ starting with a slower, more chill vibe then building up with catchy lyrics and electrifying guitars. Eye-catching posters were also sold at the merchandise stand, with hidden song lyrics running through the design.

Naked Actress
Naked Actress put on an unreal show at 9.15 pm, bringing high-energy to their heavy alt-rock set from start to finish. The King Tut’s crowd pit filled up quickly for this Glasgow heavy desert rock trio – with the lead vocalist often engaging and chattering with the audience. Their enticing strong stage presence alongside their gripping heavy setlist led to this being a highlight of the night. Naked Actress’s debut single ‘Partly Wanted,’ released on 2nd August 2024, was also a crowd favourite. Their music style draws inspiration from fellow Scottish bands Lacuna and Vigilanti. Keep a look out for more new music and shows from Naked Actress in 2025.
Tanzana
Tanzana’s highly anticipated headline set commenced at 10 pm, providing a string of enthralling alt-indie tracks to the King Tut’s crowd. The all female-fronted band had an ethereal stage presence resonating with the likes of The Last Dinner Party, with long skirts and white lace outfits.

Hauntingly ethereal vocals from lead vocalist Freya instantly hooked you in from the start, channelling the voices of Amy Winehouse, Mazzy Star, with hints of Britney Spears offering a new take on dream pop and alternative shoegaze. Tanzana take musical inspirations from the likes of Radiohead and Massive Attack – and included a unique Radiohead cover in the setlist.

The setlist also included their debut single ‘Covet,’ a captivating alt-indie single just recently released on Spotify on 9th January. Additional unreleased tracks included ‘You Bite, I Bleed,’ with punchy drums and catchy bass guitar. The mix of breathy vocals and entrancing instrumentals kept you hooked throughout the set.

Tanzana have already been making waves across the Scottish music scene since the band’s formation in 2023. In the 2024 Scottish Live Music Awards, Tanzana got shortlisted for Best Young Live Artist of the Year alongside fellow Scottish artists such as Abbie Gordon, The Lines, and Kirsteen Harvey. They also had secured a slot supporting Glasgow band The Kaves in November 2024. Make sure to keep an eye out for more upcoming live dates for Tanzana in 2025!
