For some, it may feel like summer’s just round the corner. But for many of us, the start if the festival season seems like lightyears away as we gaze out of frosty framed windows, longing to be sweaty once more. Well fear not, because the amazing people over at Slam Dunk Festival are bringing you a mini winter pick me up. Coming to the Garage on the 21st January are none other than Teenage Bottlerocket, Zebrahead, Spunge, and Millie Manders & the Shutup. This is your opportunity to get in the pit and bash out your winter blues.
Teenage Bottlerocket, referred to as “leather jacket punk” are an American band who have been filling my ears with soul healing music since my early teens. The band are no stranger to the punk circuit and have toured with the likes of NOFX and Mighty Mighty Bosstones.
Zebrahead formed in 1996 and came together after playing with their own respective bands in the same practice room. They started to bring hip-hop features into the world of punk, with inspiration coming from big names like Fugazi and Descendents. You can expect an amazingly raucous show from these guys.
Spunge are the first UK band of the lineup, bringing you them ska punk feels since 1994. Be prepared to skank out your feelings with these guys with their nostalgia triggering beats.
Millie Manders & the Shutup describe themselves as “High-octane, fierce, bursting with attitude and almost obnoxiously addictive.” And let’s face it, we agree. Possibly the lesser well known band in the line up but by no means any less outstanding.
Tickets are still on sale for the event in Glasgow at the time of writing and the mini fest is also featuring at other venues throughout the UK so check it out and get yourself along for your first big music day of the year!
