On June 11th, English rock duo Royal Blood will bring their infectious and rowdy rock anthems to life. As their only Scottish date, and part of 10 year celebratory shows, the duo return to Glasgow. The 2500 capacity O2 Academy has hosted a variety of talents, but few like Royal Blood. Knowing how to work a crowd, Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher are a sight to see live. Their loudest receptions seem to be from Scottish shows, including their 2023 set at TRNSMT.
After a complete sell out in Edinburgh’s Usher Hall in October 2023, Royal Blood are heading for another full house. Expect mosh pits and methodical madness. With every one of their 4 albums debuting straight at Number 1 in UK charts, it’s no surprise that we keep hearing of Royal Blood. Fans can expect a variety of tunes from these chart topping records than span across their decade long career. This ranges from their 2014 self-titled debut to their 2023 record “Back To The Water Below“.
The latter, and most recent release, is home to the likes of ‘Pull Me Through‘ and ‘Mountains At Midnight‘ which are often added to their setlist. The title track and ‘Lights Out‘ from 2017 release “How Did We Get So Dark?” are also set to be played. Released 10 years ago, their debut record contains widely recognised tracks including ‘Figure It Out‘ and ‘Out of the Black‘. 2021 record “Typhoons” is equally as popular with songs such as the title track, ‘Boilermaker‘ and ‘Trouble’s Coming‘ usually sang back loudest at gigs.
This gig from the BRIT Award winners will absolutely be one to remember. They are supported by Crawlers, also an English rock band. They have toured with Mother Mother and also played at TRNSMT on the same day as the headliners. Download Festival also have Crawlers on their lineup for this year. This is a stellar lineup, and one that should not be missed.
