On Friday the 1st of December 2023, English music legends Madness make their long awaited return to Scotland’s city of music as part of their C’est La Vie tour. Their Glasgow show will take place in the OVO Hydro with support from Lightning Seeds and is bound to be a night filled with their biggest hits.

With every album that Madness release, they stray further away from their Ska foundations. Their first single ‘The Prince‘ was in tribute to, and named after, Prince Buster, a Jamaican Ska Pioneer. This gained them a surprise success, reaching Top 20 in the UK charts. This sparked the beginning of a continuous success in the UK charts, with loads of their future songs following suit. Before renaming the band, Madness were known as The Invaders and their image was built around the Ska genre.

Their 1979 album “One Step Beyond” produced one of their hit singles, ‘My Girl‘ which hit Number 3 in the UK. This began Madness’ diverted journey towards the pop genre and subsequently, their incredibly lengthy features in the UK Top 10 charts. This ultimately became their identity and their music further proved their talents in making hit tunes that are now internationally acclaimed.

The “80s pop titans” are set to play a spectacular setlist of their chart-topping tunes including ‘House of Fun’ which gained them their first Number 1 in 1982. They’re also set to play other fan-favourites such as ‘It Must Be Love‘, and ‘Our House‘. The latter of these two is their most streamed song to date, with Spotify streams currently at 241 million.

With this bound to be an atmospheric show filled with the biggest pop anthems, this isn’t a show you want to miss. Check out the information to this show, and others across the UK in their Instagram post below:
