Gig Preview | KISS, Skindred & The Wild Things | Glasgow OVO Hydro | 8.7.23

British rockers ‘The Wild Things‘ will be supporting ‘KISS‘ this summer for their ‘End of the Road’ UK/EU tour and will include visiting the largest entertainment venue in Scotland the OVO Hydro – helping the crowd to ‘Rock and Roll All Nite’ (see what I did there).

Fronted by Sydney Rae White, who is also known for her role in the Netflix show ‘Uncle’ brings a playful, rocky sound with a hint of 80s vibe to the sound of the band and I’m all for it! My personal favourites so far from this band have been their upbeat, rocky cover version of ‘Does Your Mother Know’ – because who doesn’t like a slice of ABBA!?

But they’ve also caught my attention with ‘Paradise’ and their current single ‘Heaven Knows’ which is featured on their upcoming album ‘Afterglow’.

I’m really looking forward to hearing some new tracks from their upcoming album which I’m hoping they’ll feature as they share the stage with the legendary ‘KISS’. I have no doubt ‘The Wild Things’ will help get the crowd hyped and ready for a party!

The Wild Things‘ have travelled worldwide playing over the last year, including Mexico, Chile, South Africa, Sweden, Singapore, and much more including the most iconic venues from Madison Square Garden, and The Royal Albert Hall and we hope that Glasgow gives them that contagious buzz to come back soon as they support ‘KISS‘ on 8th July at the OVO Hydro

Helping the Scottish crowd get ready for a ‘Crazy, Crazy Night’ (see what I did there again?) are the absolutely phenomenal ‘Skindred‘!

The Welsh rock and raga legends fronted by Benji Webbe will have you partying from the minute they step out! I first discovered these guys at Download Festival 2022 and wondered why the heck everyone was waving their tops in the air…I soon discovered this is a Skindred tradition, known as the ‘Newport Helicopter’, for their hit single ‘Warning’ ft. Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach)! So this is your warning, make sure you have some sort of jumper or top to join in this fun and iconic Skindred moment!

Webbe has a total gift of not just his vocals and rap but also as a sheer entertainer and how he warms up the crowds! They have even won an award of ‘Best Live Band’ at the 2011 UK Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards. So whether this will be the first time you’ll hear Skindred or if you’re a devout fan I promise they’ll captivate you and you’ll be following these guys around in the future!

The fellow British rockers have also released 6 albums with their 7th upcoming album ‘Smile’ due for release in early August 2023 featuring their ‘L.O.V.E (Smile Please)’ which will instantly give you a full dopamine hit as it’s a sheer happy hit and a summer vibe song!

The atmosphere will be one you’ll want to ‘Lick It Up’ (okay I’ll try and stop…), as legends Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer take over the stage – and I mean literally take over from the ceiling right across to the back of the Hydro as they fully prepare to give you a night you won’t forget.

As if the eye-catching and prominent famous outfits won’t be enough, the legendary KISS will celebrate their farewell ‘End of the Road’ tour with surprises from pyros, ultimate stage presence, and entertainment that will stretch to the back of the Hydro so I can promise each fan no matter where you are seated or standing you are in for a night of absolute entertainment. With their popular songs from ‘Love Gun’, ‘Heaven’s On Fire’, ‘Detroit Rock City’ and much more, this is a gig you will ‘Love It Loud’ (sorry, I had to!)..
