FESTIVAL PREVIEW | LEEDS FEST | AUGUST 21ST-25TH

One of the UK’s most popular festivals, Leeds Festival, is set to return this summer from August 21st to August 25th. It’s no myth that Leeds Festival is an unforgettable experience, and this year’s lineup stands out once again with some massive names in the industry alongside a diverse array of incredible, talented artists.

On the Friday, fan favourites Catfish and the Bottlemen return from a 3-year hiatus to headline the highly anticipated festival, which caused chaos and excitement among the fanbase when the lineup was announced. There’s no doubt that a large portion of the energetic crowd at Leeds will be Catfish superfans. Headlining the main stage is also the iconic Liam Gallagher who is ought to bring a surreal performance to the Northern Festival. Other big names on the main stage include rapper 21 Savage and American singer Renee Rap.

My favourite of the Leeds stages is the BBC Introducing Stage, a stage where up and coming artists are given a platform to perform their talent to a festival crowd. This year we have the joy of a vast line up with artists such as Michael Aldag, Cameron Hayes, Soft Launch, ARXX and much much more talent, it couldn’t be recommended more to check out this stage while at the festival, you may just find your new favourite artist!

On Saturday, you’ll be greeted by main stage opener Dasha followed by Seb Lowe, while Blink 182 headlines along with Scotland’s own icon Gerry Cinnamon. Scottish fans will definitely make their voices heard during Gerrys set, the ‘Belter’ and ‘Sometimes’ singer is no stranger to a crazy, moshpit filled crowd at festivals, and I can’t imagine Leeds having any different response. Indie favourites Two Door Cinema Club will also take the main stage that day.

The BBC Radio 1 stage will also see an array of talent over the weekend, with performances from Australian electropop band Confidence Man, American singer-songwriter Teddy Swims as well as well-known indie rock band The Wombats who rose to fame nearly 20 years ago. Joined on this stage is also Scottish indie rock band Swim School, their stage presence is immaculate, and their energetic set is definitely not one to miss.

On the final day Sunday, our last headliners are well loved American singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey aswell as English DJ and record producer Fred Again who’s recently shot to fame and is known for his intensified, vibrant and dance driven concert sets. Also, on the main stage this day are the glorious The Last Dinner Party, the wonderful and talented four-time BRIT nominee RAYE and also Irish treasures Fontaines DC. Joined on the Festival Republic stage this day is the amazing Glasgow based punk indie band Dead Pony.

I think if there’s one thing that Leeds festival is, it is a festival for everyone, for every fan with any music taste, the diversity of artists and music genre is impeccable in this line up and there’s no doubt that the weekend in August will not be one to forget for eager attendees. Not only the music but the experience of the entire festival is one that can’t be replicated, the festival grounds are filled with food stalls, bars, fun fair rides and many more fun opportunities, there is always something to do!
