EP REVIEW | AIDAN CROSS | THE STREISAND EP

Aidan Cross, a lad from Scotland who moved to London to pursue his musical theatre dreams, has recently released his new EP, and it’s one you don’t want to miss.

The first track, ‘Streisand’, opens with the beautiful sound of the violin, creating a mood of reflection and vulnerability. The opening lines hint at past experiences of being belittled, but there’s also a resilient tone. The repetition of ‘but you never saw me that way’, in my opinion, shows the great frustration of being misunderstood. The powerful lyrics, along with the beautifully played strings, make this song one that will definitely stick in your head.

The next track is ‘Count Me Out’, an upbeat tune that paints a picture of someone who’s been through the wringer yet refuses to be defined by it. I think the Harrison Ford reference adds a unique layer, hinting at themes of ageing and relevance in a world that’s constantly moving forward. Up next is ‘For Your Wins’ a track that opens with the powerful sound of drums that will immediately demand your attention before being accompanied by slight strums of the guitar. The playful lyrics in this song make it one of my favourites from the EP.

‘Love Dont Fail Me Now!’ is up next opening with a fun beat of drums creating an upbeat yet beautifully written song. The repetition of ‘love don’t fail me now’ emphasises Aidan’s desperation and longing for love to endure despite the challenges that may come with it

The EP concludes with a raw demo of ‘Far Worse Things’ an intriguing, eerie track that clocks in as the shortest at just 1 minute and 30 seconds. The haunting violin in the background adds a layer of depth, leaving you with a strong desire to hear more.

Overall thie new EP by Aidan Cross is a captivating collection that highlights his tallent and storytelling. Each track offers something unique making it a must listen.
