“Its methodical and mesmerising sound makes it a song that you’ll instantly adore.”
Back with their second single of 2024, Glasgow group The Big Day have released ‘Send It‘. Following on from previous track ‘Back To Business‘, the quartet aim to continue the musical momentum that has seen them play big festival slots and support noticeable names. Such names include fellow Scots Declan Welsh and the Decadent West, Fatherson as well as The Charlatans.
The thing with The Big Day, is that their sound has strayed into different styles and genres, but every track maintains a sound that is quintessentially theirs. From debut track ‘Fashion Statement‘, to 2023 tracks ‘Born Killer‘ and ‘Bad Things‘, it’s very easy to recognise their rabble-rousing style.
Drawing from their influences including The Killers, U2 and Bleachers, The Big Day create songs that pack a punch and encourage audience involvement with bold and memorable choruses. I first heard ‘Send It‘ when The Big Day headlined a venue Tenement Trail last year, and since then, the track has become highly anticipated. The full studio version makes all that wait completely worth it.
“I’m over-analysing, that’s not satisfying,”
An atmosphere building intro leads you to frontman Ryan Hunter‘s vibrant vocals. As well as the choruses being memorable, each verse is also vivacious and full of lyrics that are easy to remember, and will sound incredible being yelled back to the band. Lyrics like “I’m over-analysing, that’s not satisfying“, are also easy to resonate with, creating a relatable and enjoyable environment.
‘Send It‘ is an incredible addition to an amalgamation of already addictive anthems. You can clearly hear each individual incorporation from the rest of The Big Day too. Its methodical and mesmerising sound makes it a song that you’ll instantly adore.
‘Send It‘ is a track you won’t want to turn off. It embodies exactly what the title states. The Big Day definitely do as the title suggests with every track and every performance. The band describe the meaning of ‘Send It‘ as “devoting yourself to your passion in life“, and they definitely fulfil that message themselves.
