SINGLE REVIEW | ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE | FACE THE SILENCE

Introducing Face The Silence a new Scottish band ready to cause some noise. If you like straight up rock, then this band will strike the right chord with you.

Hailing from the central belt and taking inspiration from both classic rock bands and modern noughties vibes, Face The Silence come rocketing in with their first single Another Day In Paradise.

What an intro to Another Day In Paradise, the single snare hit at the start sounds biiiiig and grabs the listeners attention. Micah Johnston and JayJay McMeekin seem to have crafted a solid backbone for the track, emphasizing how crucial a tight locked in rhythm section is in rock music. Aiden Kelly and George Russell both on guitar make their mark both on rhythm guitar and lead guitar which their influences of Guns n Roses being heard in amongst the guitar tracks. They bring a powerful and dynamic feel to the song, bringing high energy rock into the mix.

Doug Jagger‘s vocals have a real punch to them especially during the outro of the song, with a slight change in register, the powerhouse is deep within. I’d like to hear the addition of some backing vocals during the chorus just to add a bit of extra depth into the section but it absolutely is personal preference.

The lyrics throughout create a great opportunity for people to sing along, so I can already imagine how this song may be portrayed live. The words themselves are more than likely going to resonate with a lot of people also.

I was made to live my life, I won’t pray to these false idols and I will find a way to survive another day in paradise.

Speaking to Doug about the track;

Can’t wait, honestly. We’ve been sitting on it for a while and feel like right now is the right time for us to start making a bit of noise. For me, this track is the optimist’s anthem because no matter what, there is a way through whatever bullsh*t is going on and perhaps with the election in the background and the continued chaos of the world this just seems like an apt time to drop it.

The band recorded with Duncan Cameron and Dave McClean at Riverside Studio‘s in Busby, Glasgow. I think the team was a good fit (having heard the rest of the EP I know what good stuff is to come). There is no over production, nothing fancy just a rock anthem that will turn heads.

Face The Silence have created a single belonging on Planet Rock or Absolute Rock radio stations. I feel as though the band haven’t needed to reinvent the wheel or try and do something crazy for the song to stand out, everyone brings their creativity and has their moment.

A very strong first single, Face The Silence are coming out the gate hot.
