Glasgow word of mouth sensations Shambolics further cement their reputation as a must-see band with their latest single – What’s Going On In Your Head.
Released on 9th December, it is the second single to be released from their upcoming debut EP – YOU SERIOUS BOI?! – via Scruff of the Neck Records and sees the band employ the same personal and profound song writing that has become a key feature of their music.
“What’s Going On In Your Head is about someone trying desperately to get out of a bad situation and bad habits, but can’t avoid falling back in to them again. We’ve seen this happen to people around us and everyone probably knows someone that it’s happened to.”– Shambolics
Despite the somewhat darker subject matter, the new single still retains the same elements that have made Shambolics such popular crowd-pleasers; with distinct vocals, a thumping beat, and melodic guitars leading us through a song that is sure to have crowds jumping – especially with its immensely catchy chorus. “Everything we do revolves around the live performance and how a song we write will go down with the crowd,” says co-lead vocalist and guitarist Darren Forbes.
It is hugely pleasing to see that a band releasing such extremely polished studio records, still holds performing live so close to their hearts and no doubt aids the close connection that fans feel with the band. Their growing popularity has also seen them play at numerous festivals across the UK, including TRNSMT, Stockton Calling, and Sound City along with supporting cult bands Richard Ashcroft (The Verve), The View and Embrace at sold-out venues across the country.
Beyond their fantastic live shows, the band have also seen airplay from the likes of BBC Radio 6, BBC Radio Scotland, Radio X, Talk Sport, and more, including in 2017 when they won the 2017 SAMA Award for ‘Best Rock/Alternative Act’.
Shambolics are Lewis McDonald & Darren Forbes (Vox/Guitar), Ben Sharp (Bass), Jake Bain (Drums/Backing Vox), and Scotty Paws (Keyboard/Backing Vox).
Their debut EP U SERIOUS BOI?! will be released via Scruff of the Neck Records on 14th April 2023 and is available to pre-order at: www.shambolicsmusic.co.uk
