Single Review | Hopes Avenue | Walk Away

Formed in 2021, Hopes Avenue are a post hardcore band from Ayrshire. They released their debut single, “Drift” in 2021 and have been dropping music ever since and have just recently welcomed their newest single, “Walk Away” to the collection.

This song has a hard hitting intro, filled with electrifying power chords and a strong drum beat. The thrust of the guitars is maintained throughout the song, and the tempo is ideal that it doesn’t feel rushed. There are moments of “screamo”, I think is a term used for it. Although it is not a genre I tend to listen to, it was a good balance. The song wasn’t overpowered by it, keeping its fierce and fervid nature. Overall, I love the intensity of this song, it would be perfect for a hardcore gym session.

“Walk Away” seems to explore the heartbreak that comes with a dissolving relationship, and having to endure the exit of someone you love. You can really feel the passion in this tune, especially in the second verse, where they mention “darkness” and “loneliness”.

This song is a smasher. It’s passionate, aggressive and powerful. I’m getting Bring Me the Horizon/Sleeping With Sirens kind of vibes. It is played, recorded and mixed very well and I’m looking forward to seeing what else Hopes Avenue have up their sleeve!
