New single ‘Once More Round the Sun’ from Dundee’s Desert Kites, takes an alternative approach to typical feel-good Christmas songs.
Just in time for Christmas, Desert Kites released their new single ‘Once More Round the Sun’ via SODEH Records.
Heavily influenced by 90’s grunge and hard rock, the duo from Dundee have embarked on a new evolution of Desert Kites in 2024. This year has seen them put out a few singles ending with this new Christmas anthem.
“It’s not anti-Christmas, just alternative.” – Shaleph O’Neil
In the style of a typical Christmas ballad, Desert Kites not only welcome the time of year but also use this song as a reminder that things aren’t all that positive in the world right now. Through the festive guitar melody, you can hear the rock influence that makes up the rest of these guys discography, it’s clearly still a rock song. ‘Once More Round the Sun’ has a great way of delivering that feel-good factor while also allowing the powerful lyrics to soak through. I personally think this is an interesting take on the Christmas classic and I quite liked the bands DIY sounding rock roughness.
