SINGLE REVIEW | CLOAKS | SIMPLE TIMES

Glasgow rockers Cloaks have released their latest single ‘Simple Times’ an edgy indie rock anthem that has you hooked from the beginning.

If you have ever wondered what it would sound like if Arctic Monkeys and Catfish and The Bottlemen had a baby I’m fairly certain that the Cloaks would be the prodigal offspring.

The opening lyrics and angsty vocals immediately draw you in with ‘Who was I then, and who am I know,’ Creating an enthralling atmosphere that makes you want more.

Although this song has not been out for long it’s easy to see this song becoming an indie classic.

Cloaks are making themselves know and have been steadily growing their reach since forming while studying at Riverside Music college in 2020.

It is no surprise to me that one of the components of this track that really stands out is the production, considering four out of the five members of the band studied audio engineering at college. The production sets the tone and mood for the song before any of the vocals or instrumentation starts and keeps it steadfast throughout the song.
