Alba Fury addresses the anxiety we feel when opening up about our feelings with their energetic and atmospheric new single ‘This Is Why’.
Facing vulnerability head on with their second single, Alba Fury delivers a sound that’s dark and haunting yet still has a hopefully tone.
Based in West Lothian, Edinburgh, the four-piece are breaking into the scene with a sound the sits somewhere between alt-indie and post-punk with some pop influence in their melodies. The group draw inspiration from artists like Fontaines DC, Sprints, Young Fathers and Joy Division.
“’This Is Why’ is a song about acknowledging when you need help with emotional issues, whatever they may be. It’s about the anxiety that stems from our fear of being judged, rejected, or hurt as a result of revealing personal weaknesses or insecurities. Ultimately though, it’s a hopeful song about how facing vulnerability can lead to self-awareness and emotional resilience.” – Jamie Thompson (Songwriter & Bassist)
Having an almost experimental feel to it ‘This Is Why’ is controlled yet confrontational while also being driven by haunting and atmospheric riffs. The verses have a dark yet energetic feeling that builds into the more aggressive chorus that centers around the strong statement “this is why”. I really like the mood that Alba Fury have set with this single somehow finding the perfect balance between energetic and eerie, this is a track where you literally feel like they are telling you their most personal stories and you can sense the apprehension there.
