Rhuari Campbell Album Review “Sonder”

Dundee’s Rhauri Campbell, part of the Campbell clan with brother Calum and award winner has just released his stunning new album Sonder.

Rhauri “slow for a poet” Campbell released his brand highly anticipated new album Sonder which takes us on a journey through the ups and downs of mental health with an assortment of Genres including folk, indie, acoustic and even the rousing reggae song “However hard it gets”

Winner of Dundee’s Musician award, Twa Tams battle of the bands and BBC introducing 2023. The multi instrumentalist gives us a heart stirring exploration of the human experience in life by infusing genre deifying sounds, which is tackling themes such as mental health, grief, addiction and on to healing which he draws from personal life and his experience of working as a mental health nurse.

Sonder was partially funded by his fans through a successful social media campaign and brings together a plethora of different songs which showcases his ability to weave very complex emotions into a vibrant and eclectic mix of songs. Recorded at counter culturestudio’s in Perth with the help of Producer Dave Mcfarlane. Sonder features some amazing local talent, including Chris and Sandy from the Mad Ferret Band and Kirsty Smart from The Arcades. The voices blend seamlessly together and compliment each song.

With Rhauri’s background in Mental Health nursing and his passion for music blends seamlessly with his mission statement and another step toward his future career as a music therapist, where he will use music and sound to heal and inspire.
