Main Primate – “Beck and Call” / Single Review

Four piece band from Edinburgh, Main Primate have just released their newest EP, with lead song; “Beck and Call” and we are thrown in to the deep end from the beginning.

I love the opening of this tune, a lot of heavy grunge guitars with conviction. The guitars carry us through the song and lead us in to a cool melodic chorus with great harmonic tones.

The verses are made up of spoke word, which isn’t generally my normal listening, but if that’s what you’re into then this song is for you!

Well balanced verses that are perfect bumpers for the chorus but could do with the vocals being slightly louder and clearer to fully hear the lyrics.

Really enjoyed the bridge which arrives just before a solid guitar solo and it prepares you to lunge straight into the zingning guitar riff towards the end.

It’s a great transition into the final chorus, and the end guitar riff ties the song together, mirroring the opening intro which is quite poetic!

Overall, “Beck and Call” is packed full of guitars, cymbals and attitude. There was no waiting around for this song to begin! It’s a heavy tune, with a harmonic chorus that keeps coming back for more. Definitely one to be listened to at full volume!
