Scouse legends the Lightning Seeds headlined Glasgow’s Garage on their greatest hits tour last weekend and here’s all you need to know.

First on stage were Casino, supporting the Lightning Seeds. They warmed up the crowd with their funk influenced sound, combining synths and groovy basslines, the crowd was buzzing with anticipation for the main act. Casino are a four-piece band from Liverpool, which I admire as they chose a band from their hometown.
Their cool-guy onstage persona captivated the crowd, they are definitely a band to watch in the years to come.

After Casino departed from the stage, the room quickly filled up even more, eager to see the indie legend that is frontman Ian Broudie. The Lightning Seeds came on stage and immediately there was a connection between them and the crowd.
They kicked off their set with “Life’s Too Short” and played their way through hits such as “Change”, “Sunshine”, “Pure”,” Lucky you”, “You Showed Me” and of course, “Life of Riley“.
When seeing them live, I realised that they have more hits than I’d remembered and I’d be lying if I didn’t say that the crowd had a sense of movement, the whole night everyone around me was dancing and feeling the music.
Lead singer Broudie kept that connection to the crowd throughout the night, regularly stopping to ask if they were okay, and if they were having a good night. The Lightning Seeds sounded amazing, even after 35 years.
They finished their set at around 10pm, but quickly returned for an encore consisting of “Marvelous“, which the crowd absolutely loved, and roared with excitement when the first note played.
One thing I will say is that I think the garage wasn’t the perfect venue, as it was cramped and difficult to move by the end of the night, but I think this added to the bustling atmosphere the gig had.

It proved to be a great gig and a night to remember, with the Lightning Seeds discography standing the test of time, and for years to come.
