GIG REVIEW | BIIG PIIG @ SWG3 TV STUDIO | 20.02.25

Following the release of her latest album, 11:11, Irish alt-pop sensation Biig Piig lit up the SWG3 stage on Thursday night, delivering an electrifying performance that gave a burst of colour to my evening.

Jessica Smyth, better known by her stage name Biig Piig, was a force of nature from the moment she stepped on stage. Charismatic, energetic, and completely in her element, she had the crowd wrapped around her finger as she guided us through the highlights of her diverse discography. Her connection with the audience was nothing short of heartwarming-constantly checking in on us, ensuring everyone stayed hydrated in the sweltering venue. It was clear that her appreciation for her fans was genuine, and gratitude radiated from her throughout the entire set.

The show’s atmosphere was very well crafted, with immersive lighting and ambient sounds seamlessly carrying us from one track to the next. The visual spectacle mirrored the sonic versatility of Biig Piig’s music—one moment, the stage was bathed in a warm amber glow; the next, it was flashing deep green. Her ability to switch between techno-infused bangers and delicate, heartfelt ballads really showcased her talent.

Her vocals, smooth as silk, were captivating from start to finish. Even during high-energy disco-infused tracks like Favourite Girl, which had the entire room dancing, her voice remained hypnotic. At one point, an enthusiastic gig-goer shouted, “Gon yersel Biig Piig”- (And no, it wasn’t me- but I wish it was…)

A standout moment for me was hearing Feels Right live. The song first caught my ear while shopping in an Oliver Bonas, and it was the gateway to my Biig Piig fandom. Last night, in the packed TV Studio at SWG3, the track took on a whole new life, and I did some amount of two-stepping. The atmosphere was electric, and the whole night was bursting with positivity.

If you haven’t already, do yourself a favour and give Biig Piig a listen! her music truly has something for everyone. And if you fancy a boogie, she’ll be back in Scotland for TRNSMT festival on July 11th, so don’t miss out!
