Talk To Me of Poison is the debut single from Edinburgh rock band, Dark Hearts.
The whole mood and vibe of the song is teased by the ominous guitar intro. It leaves you intrigued for more.
We are then thrown full throttle into an exciting fast paced guitar rhythm.
I really like the sustain used throughout on the guitars, it lends itself really well to the ghostly and eerie vibe of the song.
Would have liked to hear more of that sweet base that is coming through every so often, it’s a really nice tone.
’Talk to me of Poison’ is a story of revenge and reminiscence of betrayal and heart ache.
It’s a really emotive piece, demonstrated through the vocals with also passion coming through the lyrics.
“Every night I go to sleep, I think of what he’s done to me”
The voice of the lead singer is really lovely. It’s clear, and velvety and reminds me of the era of Kate Bush and Stevie Knicks.
Echo and reverb are perfect for this type of spooky song, really well used in the quieter sections of this tune.
This is a great debut single, with strong musicality and a production that does not overshadow the vocals.
I love the drive throughout it, the mysterious vibes and I can feel the desperation for revenge.
Excited to hear more from Dark Hearts!
