Glasgow’s ESCAPE GOATS capture the feeling of being pulled in conflicting directions on new single ‘Rompecabezas’.
Math rockers ESCAPE GOATS are beginning to make a stamp on the genre, recently they have been featured on BBC Introducing, Fresh on the Net and spotlighted by the Unsigned Guide. The trio also opened for Sluts of Trust on their return to the stage in July. Going forward in 2025 the group are planning to complete their debut album and have it released by the end of the year, but for now they have just released their brand new single ‘Rompecabezas’.
Lyrically playing with double meanings and pseudowords, ESCAPE GOATS have created a track that is more than a little interesting. The almost impending doom feeling of the opening guitars gives ‘Rompecabezas’ its first unusual element. The three-minute-long piece takes you from that initial unsettling feeling into a chorus that’s light and almost a little punky in the vocal and then right back again. Feeling a little bit like musical whiplash this unique single really grew on me with each listen and its weird math rock sound I’m sure will have ESCAPE GOATS gaining a few new listeners.
