Coming in hot from latest releases such as ‘Standing In The Rain’ and ‘Shoes In Hand’, Jack Rowberry stuns again with latest release ‘C’est La Vie’. A track about remembering to let go of things that are outwith your control, it serves as a stark reminder to us all to adopt this outlook into our lives.
Tentative drums start the song off before the other instruments come in, giving the song a boost of confidence which gets you hooked. Providing a jazz club feel, the almost six minute long track makes for a relaxing listen, which only adds onto letting go of the overwhelm which clutters our lives.
Rowberry’s clever use of pauses between certain lyrics and the backing vocals helps to enhance the song, bringing it to the next level. Alongside my favourite lyric of the entire song, “C’est la vie to what you want to mean to me”, it helps to remind you to leave other people’s expectations behind and to begin to live how you wish to.
Ending the song with energetic guitars, punchy drums and honest vocals, it helps to expertly wrap up the overriding message of the song and provides a pleasant come down from the subtle chaos of the middle of the song.
For fans of bands such as Fleetwood Mac, Jack Rowberry is certainly one to keep your eye upon as proven by ‘C’est La Vie’. The fun, upbeat track is an anthem to live how you wish to and to let go of what’s dragging you down.
