Scottish pop-indie four-piece KATANES have released their second single, The Meadows- A tribute to the iconic meadows in Edinburgh. This follows the release of their debut single, “Drown,” released in January 2025, previously described as an upbeat, easy-listening song featuring a strong drumbeat, powerful vocals, and captivating guitar riffs.
This tune shares the same upbeat, indie energy with a Two Door Cinema Club feel. The lyrics embrace the band’s desire to let go and return to an easier time, lying on the grass late at night and “getting drunk on cheap bottles of wine”- It is a track steeped in retrospection, longing and youthful freedom.

The song leans into the late 2010s indie pop palette, with its driving, chugging guitar lines and catchy motifs. The track has an atmospheric build until the soaring, emotionally charged choruses lift the song and intensify the track’s reflective core.
“The Meadows” cements the band’s identity in the indie pop scene while capturing a fleeting sense of youth and freedom that only feels real in hindsight. Between this track and “Drown”, both releases show a band leaning confidently into their sound.
The band have a summer of live performances lined up, including Belladrum Tartan Heart festival- so stay tuned for future releases from KATANES.
