Dream Journal are a 4-piece indie rock/grunge band based in Glasgow. They have recently
released their debut single ‘One of Those Moods’ on 17th February and it is a tune right enough.
The whole track is around the emotional rollercoaster many of us humans experience during tough times. I’ve been listening to a lot of Wunderhorse and their sound does seem influenced by them as well as Nirvana, that kind of 90’s nostalgia feeling.
The intro sounds very bass and drum heavy, followed with anguished sounding vocals, very grunge feeling. The verses sound like the intro, then the chorus arrives. The chorus then invites a jangly sounding guitar which gives the song a new sound, uplifting the vibe if you will. From the moody bass and distorted guitar intro to a jangly guitar riff you can dance away to.
I really like the track, it reminds us that some days can be a struggle. And without rain, there
would be no flowers.
