GIG PREVIEW | ELECTRIC HONEY PRESENTS: LOVE IN THE HIVE | @ THE FLYING DUCK 13.02.2025

Twas the night before Valentine’s Day, when all through the Flying Duck there was creatures-a-dancing, not giving a flying- on the 13th of February, Glasgow Kelvin College’s student run record label Electric Honey will welcome in music lovers to their gig, ‘Electric Honey Presents: Love in the Hive’ at The Flying Duck. Uncut magazine has crowned this record label “the most successful student-run label in the world”. Electric Honey has a rich history and was once home to bands such as Biffy Clyro, Belle and Sebastian, and Snow Patrol. The label obviously has a taste for good music, and I would trust that this gig will not disappoint.

First band on the bill is Santeria, an indie rock/post punk 5-piece band from Kilmarnock. These Killie giants have yet to release music on Spotify however they have been busy with live
performances at venues such as Room 2, Stereo, King Tut’s and Nice n Sleazy. They will be performing an acoustic set for the gig-goers so we will be excited to hear how that goes.

Next is Arienas, this band of four are from Fife. As well as Santeria, these fellas haven’t released music on platforms but from their Instagram, they sound promising. They also have been spending time perfecting their live performances in venues such as Golf Inn at Ladybank, Roots Music Venue and even supporting Louis Berry at Stereo. Do check out their Instagram.

To end the night, there is Subtopian Planning Board. A 4-piece psychedelic alt-rock band from the town of Paisley, this band has graced stages from The Bungalow, Broadcast and Nice n Sleazy. Check them out on Spotify and give them a listen, otherworldly sounding tracks like ‘Konfident Kafé’ will hopefully make an appearance on the night.

This night is sure to be a few hours filled with boogieing, blasting tunes and booze. Get yourself down there.
