The atmospheric north-east of Scotland is home to the alternative/indie rock band Ample House who are currently making waves from their Glasgow base.
With a sound that mixes heartfelt resonance with indie grit, friends since childhood, they turned years of shared passion and creativity into music. In 2024 they started their first collaborative project as Ample House. Since making their debut at the legendary King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, Ample House has gained popularity because of their moving songs and energetic live performances.
The artists Arcade Fire, Fatherson, Far Caspian, Finneas, The Night Cafe, Palace, Low Lying Sun, Theo Bleak, and the Native are among the influences, so if you are a fan of any of the above this band might be your new band to love.

The raw emotions of self-reflection and personal development are captured by a better person. Written during a relocation to Glasgow this song shows strong feelings of self-observation and the lyrics “I can’t lie to myself” conveys this. In the track, listeners go on a journey of introspection and heartfelt regret. ‘I am different’ is the beginning of a private discussion with oneself, it then turns into a strong request for forgiveness and direction.
A better person, musically, is a tapestry of contracts, combining a melancholy introduction with an uplifting finale, all bound together by an unforgettable bond.
The band’s ability to transform universal feelings into anthemic, dynamic indie music is demonstrated by this song.
