SINGLE REVIEW| NOBODY ELSE| DAVID DELINQUENT & THE I.O.U’S

Dundee based Pop n’ Roll band David Delinquent & The I.O.U’s next single, ‘Nobody Else’ is a joy to listen to and an instant favourite for new Scottish sounds.

Having only been a band since 2021, David Delinquent & The I.O.U’s are a five piece unlike any other, featuring the typical two guitar, bass and drums format, the band switch it up by incorporating saxaphone courtesy of prior Discovery Music Scotland member, Bonnie Ross.

In the press release for ‘Nobody Else’ the band talk of the song highly, stating that its “about being unapologetically yourself. It is an opportunity for us to celebrate being unique regardless of what others think. The song itself explores breaking down barriers, coming out of the box and stepping away from stereotypes”.

Though the song is described as being a “Pop n’ Roll” tune it opens up with a heavy punk riff that immedaitly gets the blood pumping, setting the mood perfectly. Lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist David Delinquent shouts the lyrics with a sense of pride and honesty, the chorus being featuring the repeated phrase “I don’t want to be nobody else”. It’s a call for pride in ones self and a care for knowing you are one in a million. The bass work done by Scott Sweeney is another highlight of the song, the punchiness of its tone adds a great of depth to the sound, making it both an easy listen, and a dense wall of sound that’s a joy to listen to.

‘Nobody Else’ will be released on 15 November, the band are also set to record their first full feature length album next year.
