Bedfordshire artist Alfie Templeman kicked off his UK leg of his 2024 tour in Glasgow’s iconic St Luke’s on 31st October. Supports from Leicester-born artist SOFY, as well as Glasgow’s up-and-coming band Bottle Rockets warmed up the crowd with a mix of upbeat indie-rock tunes before Alfie took the stage.
Alfie Templeman offered a set full of energetic pop-indie tracks including ‘Obvious Guy’ and ‘Hello Lonely’ from his recently released sophomore album Radiosoul. His music genre would best appeal to fans of Wallows, Dayglow, and Tim Atlas.
To celebrate the first date of his UK tour on Halloween, or as fans refer to as ‘Alfie-ween’, the night came with several costumes including Templeman dressing up as Buckfast, with bandmates dressed in orange and blue to represent Irn Bru – keeping the Scottish traditions alive. A variety of costumes in the crowd included Shrek, the Mario Kart character ‘Toad’, and a character from the online game ‘Among Us’. To add to the atmosphere was St Luke’s’ iconic fairy lights and disco ball, as well as an eye-catching stage set-up creating an ethereal surrounding.

Edging away from Templeman’s typical indie set was the track ‘Beckham’ from his 2024 album Radiosoul. This gripping track experiments with interesting synth rhythms and punchy vocals, with an extended electric guitar outro that leaves you hooked. Similarly, the Radiosoul track ‘Vultures’ also provides a fun and slightly different sound to the rest of the set.
Alfie’s natural stage presence and banter with the crowd also did not go unnoticed, with the vocalist often chatting about Scottish traditions, deep-fried mars bars, and expressing the band’s love for playing in the Scottish city.

Another highlight was hearing Templeman’s most recent single ‘Dirty Laundry’ live, of which Glasgow attendees were the first to hear it played in the UK since its release. It was overall a special night for St Luke’s, and with ‘Happiness In Liquid Form’ played in the encore of the set, the night was left on a high.
Alfie Templeman will continue to embark on his UK tour this month, before moving on to Europe starting in Amsterdam and wrapping up in Paris on December 5th.
